We Are Thankful!

Our ACE and PALS students visited the library for a special gratitude activity! We talked about the things we’re thankful for, then students completed a fun cut-and-paste project where they selected meaningful words and images to create their own “thankful collages.” We also read Humble Pie by Jory John together—a perfect story to spark conversations about kindness, humility, and gratitude. It was a warm, creative, and thoughtful time in the library!

Congrats, Ms. Giles!

Our amazing art teacher, Ms. Sarah Giles, was awarded a Rockwall ISD iAM Foundation REF Grant for a brand-new cardboard cutter! This exciting tool will open the door for students to safely and creatively build intricate cardboard sculptures in art class. We are so proud of Mrs. Giles for bringing innovative, hands-on opportunities to our Rakow Raptors and can’t wait to see the incredible creations our students will make! 🎨✨

Theatre Production

Rakow Theatre started off strong by blowing us away with a hilarious and energetically fun production of "When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors."

Impromptu Speaking

UIL Impromptu Speaking is for students in grades 6, 7 and 8. This competition helps you learn how to evaluate speeches, to explore the use of the voice and body in speaking; to examine the different purposes for speaking; to organize ideas; to prepare and deliver various speeches; and to develop self-confidence.

If you are interested in pariticipating, go to the school website to fill out an interest form or stop by the library and talk to Ms. Milam for more information.

Officer Land Speaks

Mrs. Henson's science 7th grade classes enjoyed learning about authentic engaging connections to science content. Speaker Officer Land from Dallas Police Departments Vehicle Crimes Unit explained to students about how he uses scientific caluclations in his everyday job. Students always ask: "When are we going to use this in real life?" Mr. Land's presentation explains how officers use skid marks and calculations to understand how accidents occur.
